We’ve all grown up in the era where comic books were the in thing. And with Marvel and D.C forming quite a significant part of our childhood, movie adaptations of our favourite comic book superheroes are quite a welcome thing in our lives.
Superhero movies have always been a favourite of almost every section of people. With the advancement of technology in recent years, celluloid has grown to become technologically superior than in the earlier years allowing classic exact renditions of super hero movies being filmed. Today, most of our favourite comic book characters have been brought up to the big screen and we all know them by faces.

10. Kick Ass (2010)
Directed by Mathew Vaughn, Kick Ass is a rather offbeat departure from normal superhero movie but definitely has its share of violence quotient. Kick Ass follows a comic book geek who sets out on his journey to become a real life superhero only to realise that it isn’t as easy as it sounds. Starring Aaron Taylor Johnson, Chloe Grace Moretz and Nicolas Cage, Kick Ass is one bloody kill fest you must watch if you’re looking for a particularly light headed superhero movie.
9. Superman (1978)
There have been many versions of Superman but the 1978 movie starring Christopher Reeves stands out as the best celluloid adaptation of the Man of Steel. Reeves was, and still remains the best actor to have portrayed Superman with Gene Hackman laying Lex Luthor and Marlin Brando guest appearing as Jor-El, Superman’s father. The 1978 release won a special achievement academy awards as well as the Saturn award for the best music post its release.
8. Wonder Woman (2017)
Gal Gadot was a diamond playing the role of the Amazonian princess and there was no one today who could have played it better. The character, which originally became known via the Justice League became widespread phenomenon post the movies which made people pick up exclusive Wonder Woman’s character in order to know more about Diana’s story. Directed by Patty Jenkins, this 2017 release amassed earnings of over $800.5 million at the box office.
7. Spiderman (2002)
Our friendly neighbourhood Spiderman has always been one of the most loved superheroes of all time. Now, inspite of the fact that the latest Spiderman movies have much superior action sequences and added story substance, the 2002 Spiderman movie starring Tobey Maguire, Kirsten Dunst and William Dafoe will always be the most preferred movie in the Spiderman history. Also starring James Franco, Maguire still remains our most familiar face when it comes to the web slinging superhero out to save the world.
6. Hancock (2008)
Okay, so this movie did not go down well at the box office at all. Infact, it was an absolute dud. But lets face it, Hancock had a lot of crude substance which normally doesn’t go really well today unless its wildly commercial. Will Smith’s portrayal of the alcoholic superhuman was crude, rude and borderline unethical. But the movie had a lot of substance in it and does seem to quite a popular one among the mass even though the critics weren’t too hapoy with it. Hancock also starred Charlize Theron, Johnny Galecki and Jason Bateman.
5. X Men
X Men are definitely one of the scientifically engineered superhumans on the list but that never stooped fus from considering them any less than real heroes. The X men movies have always been much coveted ones with the likes of Hugh Jackman as the Wolverine and Halle Berry as the Storm. Although the franchise started off well, the storylines kept on getting more complicated towards the end which did account fort some loss in fan following, Nevertheless, the X men series is till one of the most rewatched superhero movie franchises till date.
4. Iron Man (2008)
We all love Tony Stark. The millionaire, scientist, playboy, philanthropist as the Iron Man and we all loved the story that got him there. The first Iron man move starring Robert Downey Jr. as Stark as significantly the only one amongst the three in the franchise which had any effect critically. Nevertheless, Iron Man is still a fan favourite with the scene where the Jericho missile was demonstrated a widely used picture for a host of purposes online. Quote memes!
3. The Avengers (2012)
The Avengers had to make it to the list as the movie was clearly one of the best ever made in the genre. Joss Whedon gave us an amalgamation of some of the best Marvel characters in the Marvel universe with the movie on the Avengers initative which was triggered by S.H.I.E.L.D. Deadpool is one quirky character in the world of superheroes and Ryan Reynold’s portrayal of Wade Wilson’s mercenary-turned-superhero was ecstatic. Made in a way which breaks down the ‘fourth-dimensional wall ‘where Deadpool gets to interact with the audience, the movie co-starring Reynolds with Morena Baccarin, Ed Skrein and Brianna Hildebrand had epic fight scenes, some scintillating VFX moments and some of the funniest dialogues ever making Deadpool one of the most entertaining superhero movies of today.

There never had to be any doubt regarding what would be at the number one position. Christopher Nolan’s Dark Knight trilogy is unanimously accepted as the best superhero franchise ever made. Batman Begins, The Dark Night and The Dark Night Rises all starring Christian Bale as the masked vigilante were highly coveted films earning the franchise a huge fan following since the very first movie. The likes of antagonists in the form of actors like Liam Neeson, Tom Hardy and the late Heat Ledger added to the U.S.P of the movies alongside a brilliant Michael Caine.
